If you’ve been following me on Instagram for a while, you probably know that I love smoothies. Along with the obvious contender as a breakfast supplement, they’re great for lunch, snacks, and just when I want something refreshing. They’re so easy to make and if you do it right, quite filling as well. Hart loves a strawberry banana smoothie so I wanted to make a Valentine’s Day-inspired treat to celebrate the day of love. You can easily modify fruits and liquids with whatever you have on hand. Check below to see what I did.
Ingredients
- Half of a banana
- 1 cup of frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup of rolled oats – I used Quaker Quick Oats.
- 1-2 tablespoon of collagen powder (optional)
- 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 tablespoon of your choice of sweetener (optional)
Tips, Tricks and Modifications:
- Swap out your fruits next time. I love this smoothie with blueberries and sometimes I leave the banana out depending on my mood.
- You can substitute the liquid in your smoothie with your liquid of choice; such as coconut water, yogurt, oat milk, etc. For this smoothie, I wanted the creamy texture of almond milk
- Add more or less sweetener depending on your tastes. If you’re using a sweetened liquid, you likely don’t need any more sweetener; but you do you.
- The oats give a strong flavor, but you could skip the oats and do the other half of the banana.
- For sweetener, I used monk fruit sugar; but you could also use dates, agave, honey, any other sugar, etc.
Instructions:
Step 1: Throw it all into the blender and enjoy!
You can watch this video of how it’s made on my Instagram. If you liked this smoothie or you’re interested in trying some of my other smoothies, check out the growing list here.
Anyway, I hope have an amazing Valentine’s Day and enjoy this smoothie. Hart and I will be celebrating with some Oreo truffles to complement our strawberry banana smoothies.
