Okay, it’s no secret that I love a good smoothie. Food is fuel after all. Smoothies are such an easy way to fill you up with all kinds of fruits and vegetables in the form of dessert smoothies, breakfast smoothies and even a detox smoothie.
More recently, I’ve also been obsessed with my juicer. My aunt gave it to us as a wedding gift and I could not be happier. Because of this, I’ve been making less smoothies and more juices; but with summer around the corner I’m hoping to get more of a balance. Hopefully, I’ll get to a point where I can recommend some juice recipes in addition to my smoothie ones.
I’ve shared a few of my favorite smoothie recipes like this strawberry-banana smoothie or my quick and easy green smoothie. But right now, I want to share with you my favorite detox smoothie. It’s important to note that I use the word “detox” lightly. This isn’t some quick fix weight loss smoothie that will magically detox your body. It’s more like an anti-inflammation smoothie that will help complement your normal dietary routine. This is my go-to smoothie when I’ve feeling a like a cold could be coming on or when I’m feeling bloated.
Ingredients for Detox Smoothie:
- 1 cup of coconut water or your liquid of choice
- 1/2 of a banana
- 1/2 cup of frozen mango, pineapple and peaches mix
- 1/2 of a carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
- .5 – 1 teaspoon of turmeric to taste
- 1 teaspoon of ginger
- 1 – 2 tablespoons of collagen powder
Tips & Tricks:
- Buy a mixture of frozen fruits rather than individual bags. I usually like to be pineapple, mango, peach mixture from Costco or Kroger.
- Use frozen ginger for a quick option like this one from Target. They sell it at most stores.
- Start with less turmeric and blend then add more to taste so that you don’t put too much ins
I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think and any modifications you make in the comments below or if you’d like me to share juicer recipes in the future!
