Hart and I recently got back from two back to back weekend trips to Florida. Our typical diet is out of whack and I’ve been lacking in the greens department. If you’ve kept up with me on Instagram for the past few years then you know I love smoothies and drink them 3 – 5 times week. Unfortunately, I usually skip them in the winter. I don’t particularly enjoy drinking cold things in the winter so as much I love smoothies, I never crave them this time of year.
However, with all of this travel, I figured my go-to green smoothie would be the best way to make up for all of the veggies I’ve been missing. It’s such an easy and quick way to get your servings of fruits and vegetable in. Green vegetables are great for you, but to be honest, this is my go-to because I just like the color green. Anyway, here is the green smoothie I’ve been making us this week to get us back on track.
You can watch a quick video of me making this smoothie on my Instagram here. You can see other smoothie recipes I post here.
Green Smoothie Ingredients:
- 1 cup of coconut water or your liquid of choice
- 1 – 2 handfuls of dark leafy greens like spinach
- 1/2 cup of frozen mango
- 1/2 of a banana
- 1 kiwi (skin-on or skin-off)
- 1 – 2 tablespoons of collagen powder (optional)
- A teaspoon of crushed ginger
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds (optional)
Tips and Tricks:
- Swap out the chia seas for ground flaxseed for a more earthy flavor
- Leave the skin on the kiwis for a little more texture. The skin is packed full with plenty of nutrients.
- Add little bit more or a little bit less of each ingredient to match your preferences
- Include a little matcha powder to add some caffeine into your drink
If you’re looking for a good blender, I’m a big fan of Ninja Blenders. I was gifted one in college and then gifted a my current one as a wedding present. Unfortunately, the exact model I use is no longer available but I’ve pulled together some other good options. This one is similar to the one I have minus the dough accessories. However, this one is a more affordable option and gives you everything you need to make a good smoothie.
I hope you enjoy this green smoothie to kickstart to your energy! Let me know what you think or any modifications you did in the comments below.
This sounds delicious!
Thank you! It is my go-to smoothie. I love it!
